Dr. Timothy Scarnecchia

Biography:

Dr. Timothy Scarnecchia is an associate professor of history at Kent State University. Dr. Scarnecchia has a PhD in History from the University of Michigan and has taught at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, the University of Michigan, and Georgetown University before his current position at Kent State. In 2016, the Kent State Alumni Association nominated Dr. Scarnecchia for the Distinguished Teaching Award. He is the author The Urban Roots of Democracy and Violence in Zimbabwe: Harare and Highfield, 1940-1964 (University of Rochester Press, 2008) and his current book project is entitled Cold War Race States: Rhodesia, Zimbabwe and the defense of race, 1960-1985. He has also published articles and book chapters on Cold War diplomatic relations in Southern Africa based on research in the UK, the US, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Dr. Scarnecchia is married and has two children, one a university junior, the other a high school sophomore.
